A growing number of people are choosing yoga certification over traditional certifications, and many are doing so for financial reasons.
Here are some key reasons.
You can get paid more than yoga: While there are plenty of other ways to earn money from yoga, it is now becoming the most popular certification.
The average yoga certification fee in the United States is $40, and the median fee is $50, according to the International Yoga Alliance.
According to the Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the median annual income for a Naturopath in the U.S. is $103,000.
This translates into a $1.2 million average annual income.
The majority of this income comes from private clients.
Yoga certification has become the most important part of the program: Yoga certification can provide a financial boost for the yoga practitioner.
The most common reason given for yoga certification is that it gives a financial edge in the program.
That is because it can be easier to get paid than traditional certifying practices, which are usually more expensive.
“Yoga is the most highly-valued and sought after of all the certification paths,” says Sharon Nolte, who is a certified yoga teacher and director of the Naturopathy Training Program at the University of Washington.
She adds that people are looking for a “clean, professional” path that is not tied to an insurance company.
“They want to go with someone who’s not affiliated with a particular company, so they’re getting paid based on how much they are willing to pay for the certification,” she says.
Noltes has noticed a rise in yoga certification programs and how the paychecks are growing.
“It’s been great to see this increase because of the growth of yoga certification,” Nolts says.
“I’m glad it’s not just a one-size-fits-all thing.”
The average annual yoga certification salary for a naturopath is $105,000 3.
It’s more convenient: Many people use yoga to help them live more active lives and feel better.
But yoga certifications can also be used to get an income for other purposes.
According the National Yoga Association, “Yogi is now the most widely used and recognized yoga certification path.
The vast majority of yoga certifying bodies offer a full-time position or certification.
Most also offer other opportunities, including job training, financial aid, or mentorship.”
The National NaturoPATH Association says, “Many of the yoga certification paths offer an income from either a fee or fee-based payment.”
“Yogis are also very common in medical school,” Nesper says.
The NaturoPath Association estimates that the median yoga certification income for health care professionals is $150,000, while for other health professionals the median is $60,000 per year.
Some naturopathic doctors are taking yoga certification seriously as a career.
“There are a lot of reasons to take yoga,” says Nespa, who works as a medical naturopathy specialist at the National Naturally Inspired Health Center in Los Angeles.
“We have patients who are doing it for a lot less money than we do, and it’s because they can get the education and practice without having to work for a large company or get licensed.”
Nespos says yoga certification could become the number one choice for people who want to become more involved in their health care.
“People want to feel like they’re contributing,” she explains.
“And if you’re not a member of a group, it can make a difference in the quality of care.”
